The Demon

One morning, two brothers leave their small hut with their mother to hunt deer in the mountains. Moving quietly through the forest, they're suddenly attacked when a demon's arm reaches from the trees and seizes the younger brother. The older boy steadies his hands, takes aim, and fires an arrow-freeing his brother but leaving the severed arm behind. Something about it looks strangely familiar. When they return home, a terrible truth comes to light. Based on an old Japanese legend, the film echoes the eerie psychological horror of "Kwaidan." "The Demon" (1972) won awards at several animation festivals.
