Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Overture to a New War
The Galactic Empire, led by Reinhard von Müsel, defeats the Free Planets Alliance in the Fourth Battle of Tiamat. Reinhard returns to the Imperial capital of Odin as a celebrated hero, earning a promotion to High Admiral and the noble title of Count von Lohengramm. Meanwhile, Yang Wen-li quietly arrives back in the Alliance capital of Heinessen, reuniting with his closest friends. Both Reinhard and Yang hope for a brief respite from war. But Duke Otho von Braunschweig, plotting behind the scenes, convinces the Imperial High Command to order Reinhard to invade the Alliance with a fleet of twenty thousand ships. After the Duke secretly informs the Alliance government of the plan, they dispatch three fleets-forty thousand ships in total-to intercept the Imperial forces, aiming to recreate the legendary Battle of Dagon. Though Reinhard's fleet is outnumbered two to one, he devises a clever strategy. Yang, however, recognizes his opponent's plan. The question remains: will Yang's superiors listen to his warning in time?
