Grave of the Fireflies
In 1945, as World War II nears its end, Japan suffers under relentless American bombings that reduce cities to rubble. "Hotaru no Haka," or "Grave of the Fireflies," follows Seita and his younger sister Setsuko, two children whose lives are shattered by the war. They have lost their mother, their father, their home, and any hope for a better future-all casualties of the conflict. Left orphaned and with nowhere to go, Seita and Setsuko wander the countryside, struggling with hunger and sickness. Though the adults they encounter often turn a cold shoulder, the siblings cling to their innocence and resilience, refusing to surrender quickly to the bleak fate that awaits them.
