Barakamon - S01

Seishuu Handa is a young, skilled calligrapher with a bright future-and an ego to match. When a respected critic dismisses his award-winning work as "unoriginal," he lashes out, earning himself a harsh punishment. His father sends him to the remote Goto Islands, far from his comfortable Tokyo life, hoping the isolation will help him reflect and grow as an artist. But the countryside isn’t the quiet retreat Seishuu expected. Between noisy kids led by the lively Naru Kotoishi, excitable middle school girls, and overly friendly elderly locals, his peace is constantly disrupted. No matter how much he just wants to focus on his craft, his eccentric neighbors refuse to leave him alone. Against his will, the once-arrogant calligrapher finds himself learning more about life-and himself-than he ever imagined.
