The Journey

From the southern Arabian Peninsula, General Abraha and his powerful army march north toward the holy city of Mecca. Their demands are brutal: Mecca must surrender, its people will be enslaved, and the Kaaba will be destroyed. Though most are urged to flee for safety, a handful of Meccan men stay behind to resist. One of them is Aws Ibn Jubair, a simple potter who left behind a life of wrongdoing to embrace honor and faith. As the enemy forces close in under cover of darkness, the hopelessly outmatched defenders try to rally their spirits. The night takes an unexpected turn when Zurara, an atheist mercenary and Aws’ former partner in crime, reappears. Still living for money and survival, Zurara has no interest in faith-until Aws’ story of redemption makes him question whether Mecca is worth fighting for. Facing a battle they cannot win, the two reunite to protect the only home and belief that ever offered them a chance at redemption.
