College student Haruko Mihashi spends her time volunteering as a nurse, offering at-home care for elderly patients. When one of them, Kijuro Takazawa, is abruptly moved to become the first person placed in a Z-001 bed, she grows uneasy. Though the bed’s advanced technology can handle a patient’s every need automatically, it lacks the warmth and personal touch of a human caregiver. Her concerns deepen when she gets a digital plea for help. Convinced something is wrong, Haruko and her friends break into Takazawa’s room-only to find that the Z-001’s computer is far more capable than anyone suspected.
