Private detective Shunsaku Ban and his nephew Kenichi travel from Japan to Metropolis, a high-tech city simmering with tension where robots face violent discrimination and a dictator tightens his grip. They're searching for Dr. Laughton, a scientist accused of trafficking human organs, who is believed to be hiding there. Unknown to them, Laughton has created an advanced female android named Tima for Duke Red, the city's most powerful man. After a sudden disaster engulfs Laughton's lab in flames, Shunsaku and Kenichi are separated during the chaos. Kenichi finds and saves Tima, who is confused and lost, unaware she’s a robot. As Duke Red’s cruel foster son, Rock, hunts her down, Kenichi does his best to shield her, treating her as human. Meanwhile, Shunsaku searches for Kenichi, uncovering sinister plots unfolding in the city’s shadows-including the unexpected connection between Kenichi’s young friend and Duke Red’s plans for control.
