Matoi Sumeragi just wants a quiet life, far from any attention. She’s content splitting her time between school and working part-time at her best friend Yuma Kusanagi’s family shrine. But everything changes when a Night-a malevolent being from another dimension-attacks the shrine. By accident, Matoi taps into the power of a god, the sworn enemies of the Nights, and manages to fight it off. Soon, Matoi and Yuma find themselves teaming up with Claris Tonitolus, a seasoned exorcist from the Vatican, and Haruka Luciela, an agent from the secretive Night-fighting organization IATO. Even though they don’t know who’s behind the attacks or why they’re happening, Matoi has no choice but to learn to control her new abilities-both to protect those close to her and to reclaim the ordinary life she cherishes.
