Marco: Carry a Dream
In 19th-century Genoa, Italy, nine-year-old Marco is left behind when his mother, Anna, travels to Argentina for work to escape crushing taxes and a severe economic crisis. Staying home with his father-a doctor at a hospital for the poor-Marco struggles with her absence. When Anna’s letters suddenly stop arriving, Marco grows worried and resolves to make the long, difficult journey to Argentina alone. With little more than love, courage, friendship, and his desperate hope to reunite with his mother, he embarks on a 10,000-mile adventure. His journey carries him across the Atlantic, through the Andes, and beyond as he grows from a boy into a young man.
