The 150-year standoff between two galactic superpowers, the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance, finally shifts as new leaders emerge: Reinhard von Lohengramm, a brilliant and ambitious military strategist, and Yang Wenli, a quiet historian serving the FPA. Reinhard rises through the Empire's ranks with the help of his loyal friend, Siegfried Kircheis, but his fight goes beyond the war. He must also challenge the corrupt remnants of the Goldenbaum Dynasty to rescue his sister from the Kaiser and bring humanity under a just ruler. Meanwhile, Yang-a staunch believer in democracy-struggles to uphold his ideals as the FPA weakens, guiding his student, Julian Mintz, to see that dictatorship is no answer to their problems. Amid the endless bloodshed, both commanders must confront the true meaning of their conflict as their opposing ideologies collide.
