Grandma and Her Ghosts
During the seventh lunar month-known as ghost month in the Chinese calendar-DouDou goes to stay with his grandmother on the first day, when the gate to the spirit world opens. His grandma performs Taoist rituals for the dead and talks to ghosts. One day, DouDou accidentally releases a devil from an urn. The demon takes over a lazy house cat and tells DouDou that rubbing his grandmother’s tears on his eyelids will let him see invisible spirits. What DouDou doesn’t realize is that the devil plans to devour all the ghosts. "Grandma And Her Ghosts" has a feel reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki’s work, like "My Neighbor Totoro," while staying deeply rooted in Taiwanese culture.
