Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
After Major Motoko Kusanagi disappears, Batou of Section 9 takes on the case of a series of brutal murders-apparently committed by malfunctioning gynoids, or sex robots. But when one of these defective gynoids leaves Batou a puzzling clue, he starts to doubt the official explanation for their erratic behavior. Soon, suspicions arise of politically motivated killings and an illegal "ghost," pulling Batou and his partner Togusa into a treacherous conspiracy. As they dig deeper, the boundary between human and machine grows hazy, and the line between reality and illusion fades. Facing bizarre and deadly adversaries, Batou and Togusa navigate a futuristic world teeming with machines and artificial beings-yet eerily empty of true humanity.
