Franz Kafka's a Country Doctor
A struggling rural doctor recounts with frantic desperation being called out one night to treat a sick child. But the situation quickly turns strange when "unearthly horses" whisk him away in an instant to the patient's home. Distracted by his own troubles and resentments toward the people he serves, the doctor misses the horrifying, deadly wound hidden on the boy. The villagers, who "always demand the impossible from the doctor," mock his failure, leaving him disgraced and condemned to an endless journey home-losing everything along the way.
