Twilight Out of Focus - S01

High school sophomores Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Ootomo haven’t always gotten along, but they’ve managed to make their shared dorm room work for another year. To keep the peace, they agree to three rules: Mao won’t reveal Ootomo’s secret-that he’s gay and has a boyfriend-Ootomo won’t develop feelings for Mao, and both will respect each other’s privacy when one needs space. It sounds straightforward, but their arrangement is tested when the school’s film club announces this year’s project: a boys’ love story about a class president and a delinquent, with Ootomo cast in the lead role. As the film’s principal photographer, Mao is responsible for framing every intimate scene between Ootomo and his co-star. Though he tries to ignore it, his growing attraction to his roommate begins to interfere with the production. When emotions-both on-screen and off-start escalating, Mao can no longer avoid facing his own complicated feelings.
