Thermae Romae Novae - S01

Lucius Modestus, a struggling Roman architect, loses his job after running out of fresh ideas. His gloomy mood worries his friends, who take him to a bathhouse to unwind. But the noisy crowd makes it hard to relax, so Lucius submerges his head underwater-only to discover a hidden tunnel that leads to a modern Japanese bathhouse. The experience gives him the inspiration he desperately needed. Armed with knowledge far beyond his time, Lucius tries to recreate what he saw, though his attempts often fall short due to limited resources. Still, the sheer creativity of his designs might just catch the public’s eye and restore his reputation as an architect.
