The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes

Kaoru Touno’s family is crumbling. After losing a sibling and his parents’ divorce, home no longer feels like a safe haven. One night, after a bitter argument with his father, Kaoru storms out and stumbles upon a strange tunnel that drags him inside. Disoriented by the surreal sights within, he hurries back out, grabbing a bird along the way-one that looks just like his long-dead pet. When he steps outside, Kaoru is shocked to find that a whole week has passed, though he was only in the tunnel for minutes. The odd encounter reminds him of the local legend of the "Urashima Tunnel," a place said to grant wishes at the cost of one’s lifespan. With his pet bird seemingly brought back to life, Kaoru starts to believe the tunnel might hold the key to fixing his broken life. But when he goes back to investigate, he discovers Anzu Hanashiro, a transfer student from his class, has followed him. She knows about the tunnel’s rumors too and asks for his help with an experiment-because she also has a wish only the tunnel can fulfill.
