In the near future, Humanoids-advanced machines with artificial intelligence and human-like personalities, identifiable by their sideways pupils-make up 10 percent of the population. These specialized beings require specialized care, and Dr. Hikaru Sudou provides it. By day, he runs a clinic for Humanoids; by night, operating as "Moggadeet," he carries out illegal procedures while searching for clues about his missing mother. Hikaru treats a range of patients, each facing dilemmas unique to this world: a Humanoid wrestling with whether she and the source of her backup data are truly the same person, a teenage Humanoid unable to improve in sports, and even a robotic teddy bear carrying memories from past owners. As technology advances, the line between human and Humanoid blurs, raising increasingly complex questions about what it means to be either one.
