In 1969, during a press conference for Nagashima Shigeo’s signing with the professional baseball team Yomiuri Kyojin, a boy named Hoshi Hyuma throws a ball at him. In baseball tradition, a thrown ball is a challenge. Hyuma’s father, Hoshi Ittetsu, has trained him since childhood to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional player.
