Serial Experiments Lain - S01

Lain Iwakura is a shy, socially awkward fourteen-year-old girl who gets a strange email from her classmate Chisa Yomoda-a girl who recently took her own life. Lain has no interest in technology and barely knows how to use it, but when she opens the message, she's pulled into the Wired, a vast digital realm resembling the internet. Her quiet life unravels as she's drawn into a series of unsettling mysteries. Mysterious men in black start following her, asking eerie questions and revealing unsettling truths about her past. As the line between the real world and the virtual world blurs, Lain finds herself caught in increasingly surreal events that challenge her understanding of identity, consciousness, and reality itself. Written by Chiaki J. Konaka, known for works like "Texhnolyze," "Serial Experiments Lain" is a psychological mystery that follows Lain as her decisions begin to reshape both the physical world and the Wired. In the process of closing one world and opening another, only she will grasp the true weight of her existence.
