After sleeping for twelve thousand years, the Demon Empire resurfaces to conquer Earth. It reveals to Akira Hibiki, a young Japanese boy, that he is the last descendant of the ancient Mu people and must join Reideen to protect the planet. Akira is helped by his friends, including Mari Sakurano-the daughter of a scientist battling the Demon Empire-and some of his high school soccer teammates.
