Eighteen-year-old Tsukasa Mizugaki couldn’t get into college, but thanks to some connections, he secures a job at Sion Artificial Intelligence Corporation. SAI Corp designs "Giftias"-highly advanced androids nearly indistinguishable from humans. But unlike people, Giftias have a fixed lifespan of 81,920 hours, roughly nine years and four months. Tsukasa is assigned to Terminal Service One, a unit tasked with retrieving Giftias before they expire, lose their memories, and turn dangerous. Soon after starting, Tsukasa is paired with Isla, a skilled but quiet Giftia who specializes in retrievals, despite her delicate appearance and calm demeanor. As time slips away, Tsukasa must confront his growing feelings for her before her limited lifespan runs out. No matter how much someone wishes otherwise, nothing can last forever.
