My Master Has No Tail - S01
The Taisho era marked the decline of the tanuki's mischief. These shape-shifting raccoon dogs once delighted in tricking humans, but progress made their games obsolete. Still, Mameda, a young tanuki girl, refuses to let go of tradition. Determined to follow her father's path, she travels to Osaka to try her hand at deceiving people-just as her village warned, she fails miserably, even drawing the wrath of a mob. Fleeing the chaos, she takes shelter in a theater and stumbles upon a rakugo performance by the master storyteller Bunko Daikokutei. Enthralled by the vivid tales woven through Bunko's words, Mameda falls in love with the art and begs to become her apprentice. Though hesitant at first, Bunko agrees after seeing Mameda's determination. Now, between learning taiko, working at the theater, and memorizing stories, Mameda must pour her heart into mastering the one craft that might still have the power to trick people-rakugo.
