Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse - S01

In 1973, after the brutal six-year Lunar War, an alien species called the BETA-Beings of Extra Terrestrial origin that oppose humanity-invaded Earth. They wiped out billions and devastated Eurasia. Though conventional weapons can kill the BETA, their laser-class units are powerful enough to destroy entire aircraft fleets. To fight back, humanity developed massive combat suits known as Tactical Surface Fighters (TSF). By 1998, the BETA reached Japan. Yui Takamura, a military school student and TSF pilot-or "eishi"-is sent with her classmates to defend Kyoto's last line of defense. After heavy losses, including the deaths of Yui's friends, the Japanese Imperial Army barely pushes back the invaders, leaving the country in ruins. The experience hardens Yui's resolve to never let such tragedy happen again. Three years later, Yui, now a lieutenant, joins the XFJ project, a joint Japan-American TSF development program based in Alaska. She works alongside an uneasy team, including the reluctant Japanese-American test pilot Yuuya Bridges and eishi from nations already lost to the BETA. Her mission is to help perfect Japan's new TSF, the Shiranui. Against a backdrop of lingering Cold War tensions, "Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse" follows Yui's difficult assignment and Yuuya's struggle to face the ghosts of his past.
