Land of the Lustrous

In a distant future, crystalline beings known as Gems live in a world devastated by six meteors. Each Gem has a purpose-to defend against the Lunarians, a hostile race that hunts them to shatter their bodies and turn them into ornaments. Phosphophyllite, or Phos, is a brittle young Gem who longs to contribute to the war. Instead, they are given the tedious job of compiling an encyclopedia due to their fragile nature. Reluctantly taking on the task, Phos meets Cinnabar, a sharp but isolated Gem forced to patrol the island alone at night because their body produces toxic poison. Witnessing Cinnabar's loneliness, Phos resolves to find a meaningful role for both of them. But can Phos's unremarkable assignment truly lead them to the purpose they seek?
