Key the Metal Idol
Tokiko Mima, called "Key" by those close to her, is a 17-year-old robot who looks just like a human girl. She lives a quiet life in rural Japan until her grandfather, Dr. Murao Mima, passes away. With his last words, he tells her she can become human if she makes thirty thousand friends. Determined to fulfill his wish, Key leaves Mamio Valley for Tokyo, where she reunites with her childhood friend Sakura Kuriyagawa. In the city, Key becomes fascinated by the idol singer Miho Utsuse and wonders if pursuing fame herself might help her reach her goal. But Miho hides a dark secret-she has ties to Jinsaku Ajou, Dr. Mima's former rival, who is working on dangerous new robotic weapons. As Key strives to become human, Ajou sets a sinister plan in motion, and Key soon discovers there’s far more to her own existence than she ever realized.
