The year is 1941. Eleven-year-old Wataru Murakami lives with his family, Japanese textile merchants working in British Kenya, when war erupts between Japan and the Allies. Forced to escape into the wilderness, Wataru stumbles into a chain of extraordinary and surreal encounters.
