Jetter Mars - S01

ジェッターマルス , Jet Mars
In 2015, Dr. Yamanoue, the Secretary of the Science Ministry, builds an android on an artificial island, intending to raise it as his own son. However, the robot has a flaw in its artificial brain, and Dr. Yamanoue realizes he needs the help of his rival, Dr. Kawashimo, to fix it. Though the two are friends, they clash in both personal and professional matters-Dr. Yamanoue is fiercely nationalistic and sees the robot as a weapon, while Dr. Kawashimo is a pacifist who treats robots with kindness. At Dr. Yamanoue’s request, Dr. Kawashimo travels to the island with his young daughter, Miri. After adjusting the robot boy’s brain, the android, named Jet Mars, awakens to the world. Everything is new to Mars, and he struggles to understand right and wrong. The next day, he lifts Dr. Kawashimo and Miri onto a building. When he notices tears in Miri’s eyes, he feels something strange. Dr. Yamanoue explains that tears are something "weak" girls shed, but strong men never cry. Later, another robot named Fainton malfunctions and goes berserk, throwing the island into chaos. After Fainton damages the facility, seawater floods in. Mars freezes in confusion, but Miri steps in, using her hidden abilities to stop the leak. Inspired, Mars helps by carrying metal sheets to make repairs. Together, they save Dr. Yamanoue and Dr. Kawashimo from the rising water. Mars later learns that Miri is also a robot built by Dr. Kawashimo. Through these events, Mars discovers how to cry-and how to do good.
