Takumi Fujiwara has built a strong reputation as a rising star in street racing, thanks to his winning streak in the AE86. But his confidence in dominating his home course, Mount Akina, is shaken when the Emperor team arrives-a group that exclusively drives Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, the car of choice for professional racers. Their leader, Kyouichi Sudou, dismisses Takumi as an inferior driver, mocking his outdated car and claiming it can't compete with modern racing machines. Kyouichi's elitist mindset means every member of his team drives a Lan Evo. Now, Takumi faces his toughest challenge yet. Can he defend his unbeaten record against the Emperor team's skill and superior cars, or will his winning streak come to an end?
