Human Lost
Fifty years after a catastrophic war nearly destroyed Japan, society is now built around a centralized network called Sound Health Everlasting Long Life (SHELL). Advanced nanomachine technology ensures people live disease-free lives-but in exchange, they must work nineteen hours a day. Those who disconnect from SHELL undergo a rare transformation called "Human Lost," turning into monstrous creatures known as "Lost" that must be eliminated to prevent societal collapse. Despite the absence of pain and death, antisocial behavior spreads. Factory worker Takeichi organizes a protest against the brutal working conditions, persuading his friend Youzou Ooba, a struggling painter, to join him. When their desperate mission fails, Takeichi mutates into a Lost, and Youzou soon follows. During the chaos, Yoshiko Hiiragi, a member of the dispatch team tasked with hunting Lost, realizes Youzou can revert to human form-a rare ability. As the third known survivor of the Human Lost transformation, Youzou teams up with Yoshiko to uncover the cause behind the recent surge in Lost outbreaks, humanity’s last hope for survival.
