High above Earth, hidden from human sight, the Heavens drift-a realm of floating island kingdoms upheld by the magic of their godlike rulers. Their power comes from a mysterious source called Akuto, but this energy is dwindling fast. Facing the crisis, most kingdoms agree to ration their Akuto to survive-except for the Magical Kingdom. Its ruler, the Magical King Munto, is convinced the Akuto can be restored if he finds a girl on Earth, foretold by a seer. As he embarks on his perilous journey, rival kingdoms plot to overthrow the Magical Kingdom and seize what little Akuto remains. Meanwhile, on Earth, Yumemi Hidaka struggles with visions no one else can see-floating islands in the sky. Though her friend Ichiko Ono stands by her, Yumemi fears she might be losing her mind. When Munto appears before her, she dismisses him as another hallucination. She’s more preoccupied with her 13-year-old friend Suzume Imamura, who’s running away with her reckless boyfriend. As the Magical Kingdom teeters on the brink of collapse, Munto’s race to save both worlds becomes ever more urgent.
