Ghost in the Shell 2.0

In the year 2029, after World Wars III and IV, a Japanese-led Asian alliance holds global dominance. To maintain its power, the alliance relies on an elite security force of cybernetically enhanced operatives who combat high-tech terrorists and other threats to global stability. These augmented agents can "ghost hack"-transferring their consciousness through the ever-present internet-into other machines or hybrid human-machine beings. Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetically enhanced female operative, leads a skilled security team in pursuit of a virtual entity called the Puppet Master. Created by a rival faction within the security apparatus, the Puppet Master has evolved beyond its programming, declaring itself a true life form "born in a sea of information." Defying its creators, it seeks political asylum and a physical form of its own.
