From the New World - S01

In 2011, a small fraction of humanity developed psychokinetic powers called "Cantus." Over a thousand years later, in the quiet town of Kamisu 66, Saki Watanabe is the last among her friends to awaken her abilities and enroll at Sage Academy, a school for psychics like her. Though everyone there possesses Cantus, not all are equal-shortly after Saki arrives, a weaker classmate vanishes without explanation. One day, while walking home with her friends-determined Maria Akizuki, clever Shun Aonuma, sharp-eyed Satoru Asahina, and shy Mamoru Itou-Saki encounters strange creatures called "Monster Rats." These mole-like beings revere those with Cantus as gods, so when Saki uses her powers to help one in distress, it responds with deep gratitude. Uneasy about the Monster Rats' role in society, Saki and her friends soon learn of another disappearance. As they gradually piece together the truth behind these mysteries, they uncover the dark history hidden beneath their supposedly flawless world.
