In a bleak, futuristic world where life is nearly extinct, humanity survives inside mechanized domed cities governed entirely by A.I. Humans are no longer born naturally-instead, they are mass-produced, living alongside android companions called autoreivs. One such city, Romdeau, is home to Re-l Mayer, a rare citizen whose thoughts aren’t entirely restricted. Thanks to her grandfather’s high status and the scientist Daedalus’s favor, she enjoys more freedom than most. But Re-l has begun to doubt the city’s supposed perfection and the controlled lives of its citizens. When strange beings called proxies start wreaking chaos and a man named Vincent enters her life, Re-l is drawn beyond the city’s walls in search of answers. Her journey leads her to uncover the truth behind "the awakening" and the hidden mysteries of her world.
