Blue Period - S01

Yatora Yaguchi is a second-year high school student with good grades but no real passion. Though he puts effort into school, he drifts through life with his similarly aimless friends. Deep down, he feels empty, unsatisfied with both studying and hanging out, and longs for something more meaningful. One day, he catches a striking view of Shibuya and is overwhelmed by its beauty-but he can’t put his feelings into words. On a whim, he tries painting the scene, and when others praise his work, the happiness it brings him sparks a new goal: getting into the fiercely competitive Tokyo University of the Arts, where only one in two hundred applicants succeeds. Now surrounded by skilled artists, lacking formal training, and facing his parents’ doubts, Yatora has to prove himself. To earn a spot in his chosen program-where only five students are accepted-he must show that raw talent isn’t everything, and that his determination can outweigh his inexperience.
