Eleven-year-old orphan Anne Shirley has spent her life shuffled between families, never finding a real home. When she's sent to live with the elderly Cuthbert siblings, Marilla and Matthew, at their Green Gables farm in Avonlea, it turns out to be a misunderstanding-they had asked for a boy to help with chores. Instead, they get a spirited girl with a wild imagination and a talent for turning everyday life into grand stories. Though the Cuthberts aren't sure what to make of her at first, Anne's quick wit, enthusiasm, and genuine warmth slowly win them over. As she adjusts to life at Green Gables, Anne discovers the simple pleasures she's missed-going to school, forming deep friendships, and facing the ups and downs of growing up with her usual dramatic flair.
