At the start of the 21st century, a catastrophic flood known as the "Tempest" wiped out over half of humanity, pushing civilization into decline. During this time, the existence of "vampires" was confirmed alongside humans. But not everyone can become a vampire-only those who inherit the blood of Faust, the first vampire. Some fail the transformation, turning into beasts or dying. Those who succeed as proper vampires are given new names, while the rest are labeled "rezas." Meanwhile, the vampires embark on a journey to uncover the reason for their existence, searching for answers-and for their "mother," the figure they believe holds their hope.
