The Shiratama Soft Tennis Team is meant to focus on the sport-and for some members, like farm girl and aspiring champion Asuna, it mostly does. But with Chitose, the team’s weakest player, as captain, maybe the club is really just about having fun together. Sure, top players like Kurusu and exchange student Elizabeth are skilled, but they’re more invested in cosplay and the team’s handsome adviser. Meanwhile, Kotone’s aggressive streak makes her seem better suited for martial arts than tennis. It might also explain why they keep stumbling into strange adventures-like encounters with giant bears, whales, and ghosts-instead of actually playing the game.
