Descending Stories
A man steps out of prison with one clear destination in mind. Having been captivated by a traditional comic storyteller’s performance of "Shinigami," he is set on becoming the man’s apprentice. The storyteller, Yakumo, has never taken a student before-yet to everyone’s surprise, he agrees, giving the eager ex-convict the nickname "Yotaro." As Yotaro settles into his new life, he meets the people close to Yakumo, including his ward Konatsu. She is the daughter of a renowned storyteller, taken in by Yakumo after her father’s untimely death. Konatsu adored her father’s craft and dreams of performing herself, but the art remains closed to women.
