Saikano

"Saikano: The Last Love Song on This Little Planet" is a manga, anime, and OVA series by Shin Takahashi, the creator of "Iihito" and "Kimi no Kakera." The manga originally ran in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine. A live-action film adaptation was released in Japan on January 28, 2006, featuring Aki Maeda as Chise. Viz Media has licensed and distributes the "Saikano" manga and anime in North America, while Manga Entertainment handles the anime's UK release. While the series never names the city where it takes place, many of its locations likely correspond to real places in Otaru, west of Sapporo. The train station, "Hell Hill," Asahi Observation Hill, the harbor view, and the school all resemble actual spots in Otaru.
