Music Ka Maha Muqqabla
"Music Ka Maha Muqqabla" was a music reality show that aired on STAR Plus starting December 19, 2009. It introduced a team-based format, a fresh take on India’s music competition shows, and ran for 13 weeks. Six teams, each led by a famous singer-Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Mohit Chauhan, Himesh Reshammiya, Mika Singh, and Shankar Mahadevan-competed weekly. Every team had three established singers and one newcomer. Hosted by Ayushmann Khurrana, the show pitted two teams against each other every week to earn the highest score. The non-competing captains served as judges. Each battle had five rounds, with scores decided by both the judges and the audience. The competition took place in a large Mumbai outdoor stadium. A small section near the stage held a few standing audience members, while the rest sat farther back. Everyone had voting machines to cast their votes when prompted. The competing teams sat on opposite sides of the stage, and the judging captains sat in front. Background dancers performed with the singers during their acts. Two captains always sang in the final round, sometimes joining in earlier rounds too. Judges awarded a "Singer of the Day" title at the end of each episode. The show concluded on March 20, 2010, with Shankar Rockstars winning the Grand Finale.
