One hundred and seven years ago, the Moon was destroyed in a catastrophic event, breaking it apart into 81 quintillion tons of debris that now orbit the Earth. Though advanced science saved the planet, the disaster has mostly faded from memory. So when Haruka Amami, a teenage girl, auditions for the "Idolmaster Project," she believes she’s simply trying out to become a pop idol. Instead, she’s recruited into a secret academy run by the Mondenkind Agency, where she lives with other girls chosen as potential pilots for the iDOL-a high-tech robot built to intercept falling fragments of the shattered Moon. But the Mondenkind Agency’s motives aren’t as noble as they seem. And the iDOLs might not be mere machines. From the start, Haruka senses something more within the iDOL named Imber-emotions stirring from deep inside.
