Light and Yomi enjoy their usual routine of playing video games together. One night, after everyone else has gone to sleep, Light gets a mysterious invitation from Alpha, a messenger sent by someone called King. Suddenly, they're pulled into another world and given a mission: rescue Princess Melody from the demon lord. Light believes this is his fate, but Yomi just finds it a hassle. They team up with Alpha to begin their journey. Along the way, they discover Alpha is actually an AI robot with a program that lets them level up gradually as they travel.
