Gakuen Alice

Mikan Sakura is a cheerful, lively 10-year-old girl-nothing like her best friend, Hotaru Imai, who is reserved, brilliant, and a little distant. Despite their differences, they’ve been close for years. So when Hotaru abruptly transfers to Alice Academy, a high-profile school in the city, Mikan is heartbroken. Worse, she hears unsettling rumors about the academy’s strict, even cruel treatment of students. Determined to check on Hotaru, Mikan runs away to find her. When she arrives, Mikan learns about "Alices"-people born with extraordinary abilities-and that the school is a government-run facility to train and safeguard them. To her surprise, she discovers she has powers of her own. After overcoming plenty of obstacles, Mikan enrolls at the academy and finally reunites with Hotaru.
