Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai

After the demon lord Hadlar was defeated, the monsters he once controlled were freed from his influence and settled peacefully on the island of Delmurin. Dai, the only human on the island, was raised by the gentle monster Brass and dreams of becoming a hero. His chance comes when Hadlar returns, and the legendary hero Avan arrives to train Dai for the coming battle. But Hadlar, now serving an even greater demon lord, arrives to kill Avan. To protect his students, Avan uses a Self-Sacrifice spell, though even this fails to stop Hadlar. Just as Dai and Avan's other pupil, Pop, face certain death, a mysterious mark appears on Dai's forehead, granting him incredible power-enough to drive Hadlar back. With their mentor gone, Dai and Pop set out on a journey to avenge Avan and restore peace to the world.
