Chibi Maruko-chan

Chibi Maruko-chan is the nickname of a mischievous but lovable nine-year-old girl. She plays tricks on her grandpa, agonizes over how to spend her pocket money, and can't stand sitting near boys she thinks are unattractive. Her thoughts and feelings are just like those of any real kid. When the new school term begins, Maruko and her classmates split into small groups. Her group includes two troublemaking boys, and she ends up having to follow their lead. School life feels overwhelming for her at times. With the school sports day coming up, everyone is busy practicing. Maruko tries her best too, though her tendency to slack off sometimes makes her late. She notices how the two boys compete in everything they do-but she also sees how close their friendship really is.
