Belle and Sebastian
"Belle and Sebastian" is an anime based on the French novel series "Belle et Sébastien" by Cécile Aubry. It aired on Japan's NHK network from April 7, 1981, to June 22, 1982, spanning 52 episodes. The production was a collaboration between MK Company, Visual 80 Productions, and Toho Company, Ltd. Toshiyuki Kashiwakura served as the head writer, while Shuichi Seki handled character designs. The series first aired in France and Japan in 1981, with Nickelodeon broadcasting it in the U.S. in 1984. In the U.K., it was shown on Children's BBC in 1989 and 1990. Though not produced by Nippon Animation, the show shares a visual and stylistic resemblance to their "World Masterpiece Theater" series, as many staff members from those projects worked on it. The anime has been broadcast in numerous countries outside Japan, with English dubs and subtitles, as well as translations in other languages.
