Arata: The Legend
Every thirty years, a new princess is selected from the Hime family to serve the Hayagami. The time has arrived once more, but records show no girls have been born in the family for years-except for fifteen-year-old Arata. There’s just one issue: Arata is a boy. Pressed into disguising himself as the princess candidate until a proper one can be found, he attends the festival, only to see the current princess, Kokuri-hime, murdered before his eyes. His own life is also declared forfeit by the princess’ personal guard, the Twelve Shinshou. As he flees for his life, Kannagi, one of the Twelve, pins the blame for the murder on Arata. Now, the entire Imperial Court is hunting him down.
